“Art is the most potent form of emotional communication. Often, people have difficulty recognising and explicitly expressing the emotions they are feeling. Art tends to have a way to reach people’s emotions on a deeper level and when creating art, it is a way for them to release the emotions they cannot otherwise express.
The optimal visual artwork creates so called meta-emotions. These are multiple emotions that are triggered at the same time. They posit that what people see when immediately looking at a piece of artwork are the formal, technical qualities of the work and its complexity. “

Fostering dialogue between cultures, artistic expressions and mediums, DARE presents a thought-provoking collective consisting of sculptures, paintings and objects of established and mid-career Australian and International contemporary artists.
Featuring practices rooted in methodical and expressive principles, Dare examines a creative energy flow of each artist and offers interesting echoes and comparisons to a viewer. Throughout the exhibition a viewer will experience that an oscillation between these seemingly contrasting artistic principles can lead to a production of intriguing artworks and juxtaposed artistic outlets.
DARE showcases diverse selection of artworks, some addressing political and social issues while others are shifting a perception of art by exploring areas of science and implementing new technologies, unified by the search for meta-emotions.
The collective of these individually engaging art practices takes a viewer on a journey through diverse artistic expressions and cultural backgrounds.
